Fostering With TGLBR

What Does Fostering a Bulldog Involve?
When you foster, you agree to take a homeless dog into your home and give him or her love, care and attention, either for a predetermined period of time or until the dog is adopted. The rescue will pay for veterinary bills and food while the dog is in your care. We do ask that you are available to bring the dog to certain events or to meet and greets as needed and follow vet recommendations. Apply here using our adoption application: https://petstablished.com/adoptions/personal-information?application_type=Adopt&form_id=58423&pet_id=2161127

Why Do We Need Foster Homes?
There are many reasons TGLBR needs fosters for our dogs:
  • TGLBR does not have a physical shelter and depends on foster homes to care for dogs until a suitable adoptive home is found.
  • A puppy who is too young (under 8 weeks of age) to be adopted and needs a safe place to stay until he or she is old enough to go to a forever home. *NOTE* Puppies are exceedingly rare in bulldog rescue unless they have a major medical issue.
  • A dog is recovering from surgery, illness or injury and needs a safe place to recuperate.
  • A dog has not lived in a home before or has not had much contact with people and needs to be socialized.

Why Should I Foster a Dog?
Fostering a dog is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have (other than adopting, of course). By taking an animal in need temporarily into your home you’re:
  • We can't accept a dog into rescue until we have a committed foster home.
  • Allow your foster dog time he/she needs to be ready for adoption--medically, socially and/or behaviorally.
  • Help the rescue learn more about the dog so we can find the best home possible.
  • Socialize the dog to a home environment and possibly get the dog used to being around other pets and different types/ages of people and basic training.

Fostering is an incredibly rewarding experience.  There is nothing like comparing the "before" pictures of your foster dog with the "after" pictures in his or her new adoptive home!  Of course, fostering is not without challenges, but The Good Life Bulldog Rescue will be there to help you through any bumps in the road you encounter.  We are available to our fosters 24 hours a day and eager to welcome you into our family!

TGLBR's Commitment to You & Your Foster Dog

  • We provide routine and emergency medical care at one of our fantastic partner vets at no cost to you.
  • We provide essential supplies, including collars, leashes, food, crates, toys and identification tags.
  • We have people who can help work through any issues (no matter how big or small) you may have with your foster pup.
  • We let the world know that your bulldog is looking for a permanent home by posting him or her on multiple social media websites.
  • We hold adoption events often - a great way to find loving homes for your foster dogs.
  • Our network of volunteers are here to answer questions, screen potential adopters, help transport your dog when you are unable, and do anything we can to make fostering a great experience!

Your Commitment to Your TGLBR Foster Bulldog

  • You provide daily care for your TGBLR foster.
  • You provide unconditional love and affection.
  • You are available to bring your pet to TGBLR events.
  • You help your adoption coordinator (AC) by providing up-to-date information and photos of your foster pet. If you'd like, you can participate in screening potential adopters and marketing your foster dog for adoption.
  • You follow care instructions provided by the vet.
  • Most importantly, you let us know if you need help!
